Dr. Barnum, (LPC, LPC-S, PhD) is an assistant professor of Human Relations at the University of Oklahoma where she instructs core courses in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and serves as the Practicum and Internship clinical director. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor in the state of Oklahoma and holds a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology specializing in somatic psychology. Her professional background also includes numerous evidence-based trauma informed modalities, including EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems. In addition, she has master's degrees in clinical psychology and in Human Relations and training in pre and perinatal psychology. In her professional career, Dr. Barnum is currently writing a book on the repair and resolution of intergenerational trauma which also examines the intersection of generational legacy with climatic change. She is a committee member for the Geological Society of America (GSA) Health Division and is actively engaged in creating a training program and curriculum to integrate climate psychology into the mental health community of Oklahoma. She has many years of experience working with a variety of clinical conditions and industries providing consulting, counseling and professional development including serving as an expert witness in court cases addressing mental health issues and incarceration. Dr Barnum enjoys presenting on a range of counseling topics that inform mental health professionals in a pragmatic and supportive manner.
